The IRS and the CA Franchise Tax Board do not distribute paper copies of tax forms or guides to US Post Offices or public libraries as these agencies have done in the past.  You have to use the Internet resources to find and obtain copies.  The ACLL Reference Desk staff is happy to assist you with locating the Internet URL for the forms for your personal filing needs.  We charge $0.20 per page for printing of all forms and guides.

Free tax preparation for:

Get your taxes done fast and free – through Wednesday, April 15.  The Alameda County – Oakland Community Action Partnership (AC-OCAP), in collaboration with the Alameda County Earned Income Credit (EITC) Coalition, is pleased to offer free tax preparation for the 2015 tax season.  City of Oakland’s low-wage earner residents (those who earn $53,000 annually or less) are encouraged to take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and receive free tax preparation services.  Currently, there are more than 25 sites throughout Oakland where residents can get free tax preparation services. To get access to an IRS certified volunteer tax preparer and to find the location of a free tax site near you, please call 211.

AARP tax help – on Thursdays through April 9.  AARP will sponsor free tax preparation assistance for taxpayers with middle and low incomes, with special attention to those age 60 and older. The assistance will be offered at the West Oakland Senior Center, 1724 Adeline Street.  For a list of things to bring with you, please call (510) 238-7016.  Also at the Oakland Public Library:  The Oakland Public Library and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) are partnering to offer free tax assistance to residents at selected libraries during the 2015 tax season.  Trained volunteers are available to answer questions and prepare personal tax returns between February 3rd, 2015 and ending April 15th, 2015.  Seniors, ages 60 and up, will be given preference at walk-in sites. Be sure to bring copies of your federal and state tax returns for last year and all materials relating to your 2014 income.  Come with your spouse if filing jointly.

Alameda County Social Services Agency is providing free tax preparation assistance for individuals and households whose 2014 income is $53,000 or less.  Residents  are invited to have their taxes prepared by IRS-certified preparers at no cost. Have your tax refund as quickly as 7 to 10 days. No appointments are necessary.  County employees, who meet the income guidelines, are encouraged to take advantage of this no cost service.

Walk-ins or drop off/pick up services are available.
