First woman named partner at AmLaw 100 firm

If you were a fan of Boston Legal and thought the show was ahead of its time, consider the following: No woman had ever been a named partner in an Am Law 100 firm until last week Thursday, March 11, when former dean of Stanford Law, Kathleen Sullivan, became a named partner at Quinn Emmanuel.  As fans of ABC drama will recall, the Schmidt of law firm Crane Poole & Schmidt was Shirley Schmidt, played by Candice Bergen.  Assuming that the fictional multinational law firm would have qualified for the Am Law 100 when the show began airing on October 3, 2004, Boston Legal anticipated Thursday’s announcement by almost five and a half years.
