The Lawyers in the Library Program is a countywide service offered by the Alameda County Bar Association and staffed by volunteer attorneys who provide free consultation and referrals on a wide variety of issues ranging from landlord tenant disputes to probate matters to employment problems and other general consumer issues.

The purpose of the consultation is to provide guidance on how the patron might be able to solve his or her legal problem, not to provide in-depth legal analysis or advice.  Patrons are advised that no continuing attorney/client relationship is being formed.   Patrons with serious legal problems are encouraged to contact an appropriate legal referral service or community service organization as soon as possible.

Be assured that, even though you are not entering into a continuing attorney/client relationship, your discussions with the attorney will be confidential.

Be advised: the LIL attorney is not permitted to consult with patrons outside the clinic setting; and the LIL attorney cannot make a private referral of your case to themselves, another member of their firm, or another attorney.
