The Judicial Council of California has rolled out a selection of new and revised Judicial Council forms that went into effect on January 1st. The Judicial Council promulgates new and revised forms twice annually, effective January 1st and July 1st. Forms that have been “adopted” by the Judicial Council are mandatory for use in California superior courts, while those designated “approved” are optional, but accepted by all California superior courts.
Noteworthy new forms for 2010 include a series of Electronic Filing and Service forms (EFS), which allow parties to consent to electronic (email) service and file a proof of electronic service with the court. Other new forms of interest include subpoena forms for court proceedings pending outside of California, and a revised Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus.
